Antler’s Hong Kong programme is structurally different from other accelerators: rather than selecting existing teams, Antler selects individual founders and facilitates co-founder matching during the first phase of the programme. This model addresses a genuine gap in the HK ecosystem — many talented individuals want to found companies but lack a co-founder with complementary skills. If a team forms successfully, Antler invests a pre-seed cheque (typically US$150,000-200,000) and the team enters the second phase focused on product development and initial customer validation. The programme works best for first-time founders with strong domain expertise who are open to working with a co-founder they did not know before the programme. It works less well for founders who already have a team and a product — they would be better served by a traditional accelerator.
