Founders should evaluate accelerator programmes using a standardised KPI framework: Cohort Quality — what percentage of alumni would recommend the programme, and what are the alumni doing 3 years post-programme? Investor Network — how many active early-stage investors attend demo day, and what is the average time to close a seed round post-programme? Mentor Quality — who are the mentors, and are they actively engaged (measured by mentor meetings per week) or just names on a website? Equity Terms — what is the effective cost of capital (equity given up divided by cash received), and how does it compare to other accelerators in the same sector? Post-Programme Support — does the accelerator continue to support alumni after demo day, or does the relationship effectively end? The single best data point: talk to at least three alumni who graduated 2-3 years ago — not the ones the accelerator introduces you to, but ones you find independently through LinkedIn.
